When you get your first paycheck, it may be very tempting to go out and blow it at a casino or the mall, but here is what i suggest:
Reinvest!
Although this business can be very inexpensive to get into, if you want to really take your site to the next level and compete with the big boys, you are going to have to put some money back in. Now, what kind of things can you invest in?
Links. In order to get your site to rank higher in the search engines, you need more links pointing at your webpages. So, this is one of the things I always focus on investing money in. Remember to focus on buying links from targeted webpages, and try to get the links right in the content of the page, not a footer link.
Content. I'm sure by the time you get your first paycheck you'll be absolutely sick of writing poker content, so I suggest you hire a freelance writer. You can find these at sites like www.elance.com, or at forums like www.pokeraffiliateworld.com.
It is an absolute must to diversify your income, and what better way than to create multiple websites. If you would like a different design for each website make sure to request a professional template design from www.customwebsitetemplate.com.
Rates for content range from $15/article for basic articles, to $30/article for advanced strategy articles. If you're still new to the affiliate game, you're probably better off writing for yourself, but once you get more established, trust me, you'll want someone else to do it for you.
Starting New Sites. If your current site is getting established in its niche, and you find yourself with some free time, you should go ahead and start another site. You never want your eggs in one basket, so it's nice to diversify between different poker niches. Plus, the more sites you have, the more interlinking you can do, and the more money you'll make.
Buying New Sites. This is the same idea as above, but its for more experienced affiliates. Once you have some cash flow coming in, it makes sense for you to expand your poker network. You can then interlink the sites, plus make profit off of every site you have.
When you're looking at purchasing a site, I recommend using Escrow to make sure the transaction goes smoothly.
As far as how much a site is worth, what I've found in my experiences is that a site is worth roughly 12 months of it's monthly income. But this can vary a lot, so make sure you're getting a quality site for the price. If you have a specific question about the worth of a site, feel free to contact me.
Now that you know how to reinvest in your business, get out there and work even harder!
